VILLAGE OF BESSEGES FRANCE

Besseges is located in the South Central part of France in the Ceze Valley on the River Ceze. Besseges, a little over100km to Montpelier on the Mediterranean Sea. The valley of the Ceze attracts tourist for the purpose of hiking, bike riding and canoeing Information that we have for the Dubois' begins with Pierre who was born in Largentiere, France in 1840. Pierre married Bertha Ginness . They had two children Pierre 1865-1948 and Clovis 1867-1962. Pierre was born in Largentiere, France 22 June 1865. He attended schooling to the 6th grade and started working in the Coal Mines in Besseges, France. Pierre married Bertha Vouclare 05 March 1878-1899. They had two children Marcel 1897-1897 and Emile 07 December 1898 - April 1987. Bertha died in childbirth in 1899. Pierre married again in 1900 to a widow named Marie (Pagis) Rivere 1875 - 1954. Marie had two daughters. Mary and Fernanda Riviere. Pierre' brother Clovis was born in Besseges, France in 1873. Quit school at an early age and went to work with his Father in the local Coal Mine. He sailed to America in 1903 and continued on to Western Pennsylvania to a small Coal Mining town called Morgan. Clovis married Leotine Latvis born in 1877. They had 4 children, Louis Pierre 1898-1962, Roaul 1901, Yvonne 1908, and Dolores. Clovis sent a letter with an invitation to Pierre and his family to join him in Morgan and work with him in the local Coal Mines.

1910 United States Federal Census give the following names of children

Louis 12, Ranel, 9 and Evone 1 The names are spelled different so not sure of the spelling of Roaul and Yvonne so if anyone has the correct spelling and dates of death plus additions to the family of Clovis and Leotine also the name of Dolores I have no info please email me at djmarcel@mchsi.com
