Locust Thorn Golf Club
Locust Thorn Golf Club was established in the Summer of 2000. It all started out on a Family Camp Out here in Carlisle. We played a game that someone threw an object to a location and we all tried to see who would take the least strokes to hit the object. Throughout the summer Marc and I tried to cut out a green lowering the rotary mower but it never did compare with the greens at the regular golf club. The bottom part of our property was overgrown with Thorn Trees, Cedar Trees, Prairie Grass and a lot of Weeds. The ground was very rough making it unable to mow. For Fathers day the boys said they would give me a days work, So what work do you think we came up with? RIGHT! This Straw Boss started giving orders. Lets cut this, lets cut this one, lets carry it up to the burn pile, I just can't begin to count the Trees, Shrubs, Bushes we cleared. By days end we were all BUSHED! (Get it? bushed) The next day, same thing. Everyone worked his or her tail off. I won't mention who did the most work (I think it was the Straw Boss) so everyone that had anything to do with it follows by age. My good friend Bob Davis, Son-in-law Jim Mansini, Son John, Son David, Son Robbie, Son Marc and Marcs friend Drew. Lots of thanks go out to the Gals Mary, Renee, Elaine, Kendra, Lori and Theresa for the cool cool water and the, ITS LOOKING PRETTY GOOD GUYS!
LOCUST THORN GOLF LEAGUE INFORMATION
Today is the first of March 2012 and this is what we plan on for this year: Last year we tilled the center and bottom green and now all you can see is bare dirt. So now we are going to add some starter fertilizer and work it into the dirt and add some Bent Grass seed. Keep watering it and hope to get a couple nice greens
This year we are planing on a earlier season and maybe getting in more league play. As soon as things are ready I will let our League Secretary David Dubois start organizing and contact players for the first League.
A few years ago was a fun time for all. Pictures was added
to the
Golf League Page web site that the league Photographer Hanna Milosevic snapped for us.
Great job Hanna! Sorry Hanna won't be with us this year. Hanna is now living in Phoenix Arizona.
Keep in mind 2003 champions were John Dubois and Jim Mansini and the 2004 Champions were David Dubois and Jim Snyder. These will be the guys to look out for. (Don't let them keep score) 2012 will be a new year for Locustthorn League play and we have a lot of new members interested. A fun 2012 year is in store for all!
